Goodwill is in search of an Assistant Manager of Transportation in Youngstown, Ohio to coordinate and schedule all pickups and deliveries of donated items and contracted goods; direct items to proper departments for processing; monitoring equipment for safety and efficiency; assure that all DOT and PUCO regulations are adhered to and maintain transportation reports on mileage, number of calls, poundage collected, etc. Employee will train and schedule all attended collection personnel.
Employee will provide supervision and direction to employees of the Transportation Department. Employee will train and schedule all attended collection personnel. Will make periodic on-site visits to attended collection sites as well as perform periodic checks of drivers while driving their routes to assure that policies and procedures are adhered to. Employee will meet and deal with the public, primarily through telephone contact, to explain the donated goods program, attend collections locations, hours, and policies.
Employee will be able to read technical material, prepare routine memos, communicate complex verbal instructions, and utilize intermediate mathematical skills. Employee will have good communication and organizational skills. Will have occasional short deadlines and occasional high stress in the work environment. Employee will carry out the rehabilitation process as designed for each individual with a disability, with particular emphasis on evaluation and work adjustment, will adhere to Universal Precautions. Employee will work closely with the Manager of Logistics to monitor and regulate the flow and production of salvage through departments. Will evaluate long and short-term trends in the salvage market and endeavor to find the most economical outlet for salvage. Employee will assist in the pre-employment screening of potential job applicants in all areas and under the Operations Director's guidance, may conduct interviews.
Employee will annually review the Corporate Responsibility Policy to assure departmental compliance with it, as well as make suggestions for revision, additions, etc.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. College is helpful but not required. Minimum of 2 years of warehouse/driving experience. Relevant training and certifications preferred.
